RWTA Conference & Exhibition








This week Oomiak will be exhibiting at the Refrigerated Warehouse & Transport Association Conference and Exhibition on the Gold Coast. This event is a great opportunity to interact with members of the Cold Chain Industry. The conference runs from Wednesday August 31st until September 2nd.

In addition to exhibiting at the conference, SA Customer Support Manager Doug Steel represents Oomiak as the SA State Finalist for the Frank Vale Award. The Frank Vale Award is awarded annually to acknowledge talented young people within the industry, who have demonstrated potential to become future leaders, and make a positive contribution to the development of the Australian Cold Chain Industry.

Oomiak Celebrates 10 Years of Business Success in 2016!

On May 6th we had our 10th Birthday! To celebrate 10 years of business success we held an event at Adelaide Oval inviting clients, employees, suppliers and vital people who have contributed to Oomiak’s success over the years! It was a great night that gave Oomiak an opportunity to look back and enjoy our achievements.

The Market Mover!









Officially opening in August 2015, after a decade of planning, Melbourne’s largest fruit, vegetable and flower market relocated to a new $600 million purpose-built facility in the city’s northern suburbs. As the core of its operation Melbourne Markets, Epping is on of the largest central refrigeration systems of its kind and is one of Oomiak’s largest projects to date!

AIRAH Site Tour – Woolworths Meat Distribution Centre

In early March, Oomiak hosted a site tour of Woolworths’ new primary meat processing and distribution facility for Victoria. The tour was organised by the Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air-conditioning and Heating (AIRAH) for members in Victoria and comprised a variety of industry professionals from many organisations. The tour was presented by Oomiak’s Project Manager Adam Cundy, Woolworths Site Supervisors and Jonathan Fryer from ISECO.

The facility sets a new benchmark for meat distribution in the Australian market and Oomiak was engaged to design, install and commission the refrigeration services. The temperature controlled storage and distribution facility located in Truganina was completed in 2015. The Woolworths facility built in conjunction with their joint venture partner Hilton Food Group will supply case-ready meat to over 325 supermarkets across the state.

The 62,000m2 site has robots, automatically guided vehicles and conveyor belt systems. These systems ensure the seamless transport of meat from production areas, to the warehouse, and then robots ensure product is sorted and stacked for distribution.

To get a true understanding of the whole production facility the tour included the plant room, roof space, production area and temperature controlled storage rooms.

Participants on the tour were very impressed by the size, scope and high quality of the works completed.
